CounterUASWorld Summary
BAE Systems has successfully completed live trials of its BATS (Anti Threat System) counter-drone solution in Scotland, demonstrating a fully integrated “sense, decide, effect” mission chain against unmanned aerial threats. The software-defined system combines sensor fusion, intelligence processing, command and control, decision support, and countermeasures within a modular architecture that can integrate both BAE Systems and third-party sensors and effectors. During the trials, BATS demonstrated drone detection and tracking, electronic warfare-based responses, and full end-to-end threat engagement in complex tactical scenarios. The tests validated the system’s ability to provide a common operational picture, support rapid decision-making, and coordinate both kinetic and non-kinetic effects through a unified command-and-control framework, strengthening layered defenses against evolving drone threats.
