CounterUASWorld Summary
BAE Systems has unveiled two defence technologies at AUSA 2026: the Multi-Domain Artillery Cannon System (MDACS) and a High Power Microwave (HPM) system, designed to strengthen layered counter-UAS and counter-missile protection. MDACS provides the kinetic layer, using precision-guided munitions tailored to different targets, including the Hypervelocity Projectile for air defence and Scorpio-XR for fixed and moving ground targets. HPM provides a directed-energy layer designed to defeat drone swarms without traditional ammunition constraints, operating continuously as long as power is available. BAE Systems positions the systems as complementary solutions to address saturation attacks against critical installations and manoeuvre forces with sustained, cost-efficient defence.
