CounterUASWorld Summary

India’s Ministry of Defence has signed a ₹770 crore contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to procure Improved Low-Level Lightweight Radars (LLLR-I) for the Indian Army. Designed for tactical air surveillance, the radars can detect and track a wide range of aerial threats, from fighter aircraft to low-radar-signature mini and micro drones. A key feature is automated target prioritization, enabling operators to rapidly classify and respond to incoming threats in complex operational environments. Lightweight and highly mobile, the systems can be quickly deployed across challenging border regions, strengthening air defense coverage and enhancing the Army’s ability to counter unauthorized drone incursions and low-altitude aerial threats along critical frontiers.
